Photographer Mark Dektor challenges conventional ideas of the human form in his portraits. Formerly an award-winning commercial director and cinematographer, Dektor now devotes his eye to chronicling misfits, outsiders and self-proclaimed weirdos.
His work forces the viewer to consider the evolving spectrum of identity in its entirety, offering new perspectives on body shape, skin color, gender and sexuality.
In his erotically charged photo series Kink, Dektor draws on porn stars, BDSM imagery, and even political and religious symbols to create a radical vision of sexual aesthetics. Dektor’s photography reflects the semantics of street iconography and a counter-cultural approach to art.
