Artist Member Spotlight • Victoria Cornejo

For our next Artist Member Spotlight series, we’ll be introducing one of the winners of the 10×10 contest each month.

Meet Victoria Cornejo! Victoria is an Ecuadorian-Indian filmmaker and fashion designer based in New York and Connecticut. She currently majors in Film Studies at Wesleyan University.

Victoria works across numerous mediums such as photography, film, video art, and garment making in order to bring childhood ideations and eccentric narratives to life. Every project presents itself as an opportunity to experiment with a new visual concept, stitch pattern, and group of collaborators.

Recently, Victoria and her filmmaking partner, Jessica Jara-Williams, traveled across the country to explore what “America” looks like from the perspective of everyday people in their road-trip documentary. From a kink playhouse in Baltimore to a gun and knife convention in North Carolina, they immersed themselves in various niche communities to capture these unique spaces and their significance to the people involved. The entire film has been shot and will be in post-production for the next year. Follow their crazy journey on @JaranjoTV on Instagram.

Currently, Victoria is in pre-production for her senior thesis film which explores how inconvenient, yet vital, a young woman’s sexual desire can be on a first date…many things go very wrong very quickly for her. The film will hopefully be a welcome edition to the “girl pervert canon”.
