Adam Dunlop-Farkas is a writer and filmmaker. Originally from Miami, he studied Literature at Yale University before moving to Los Angeles. In 2022, he returned to his hometown to direct his first feature, the dark comedy Last Day in Atlantis. The cast includes a talented collection of Miami actors: Michael Ferreiro, Ryan Crout, Diana Garle, Richardson Chery and Iain Batchelor. It was shot entirely on an iPhone 13 Pro by fellow HV member James D. Fields.

He has worked as an independent screenwriter. He has worked as a writer, director, and a few other roles on HV original projects. He also contributed the profile on Miami bass outsider artist Otto von Schirach and an essay about the IKEAization of contemporary art.

In 2020, he turned to filmmaking with a pandemic iPhone short starring his future wife and current pet. His influences include Robert Altman, Sean Baker, and Barry Jenkins.

He used to review films for Tiny Mix Tapes. His pen name at the site, Jafarkas, resulted from a misunderstanding of the platform’s account creation and login protocols. It likely spared him the wrath of many angry directors, though Adam hopes to join their ranks when audiences and critics inevitably take issue with his work.
